Review Time! ♡ : MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in "Viva Glam Rihanna"

Hey lovelies! So back around November of 2013, MAC Cosmetics quietly announced that they were going to release another collection to the Viva Glam family along with another face to their campaign, following the release date to be late January of 2014. Along the years since Viva Glam years has been existing, we've had the faces of Ru Paul, Missy Elliot, Dita von Teese, Fergie, the collaboration of Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper and the following year of Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin, but this year they have decided to just go with one person, and that one person would speak of high volumes as the new face of this AIDS fighting campaign. She already released a couple of collections over the years with MAC and this time, MAC has decided that since her collections sold very well, they were going to make her join in another collaboration with them. And that person is Rihanna.

This duo set is very different, nothing similar to the Viva Glam Gaga or Viva Glam Nicki, since both of those were light pastel colors. This color is a red true to it's color, much more different even in any of the other Viva Glam lipsticks in the whole collection in my opinion. Without any more temptation, I will now introduce the new lipstick MAC introduces to their Viva Glam family, and that is Viva Glam Rihanna, ready to take the world by storm!

When you get your hands on this baby, it almost feels like your touching silk. The case is so smooth and velvet-y, it's almost feels like a satin finish. This lipstick bullet is interesting, almost like you would want to keep the lipstick itself because of the case. Very unique and different, when opened Rihanna's signature is wrapped around the twist center. Definitely something Rihanna wanted to set herself apart from the other Viva Glam lipsticks.

Viva Glam Rihanna available for $16.00 USD at www.maccosmetics.com or a MAC retailer near you.

The thing that I love about Viva Glam Rihanna is the way it looks when you apply it. In person on the lips, it feels like this classical 1940's pin-up red lipstick and it just makes you feel sultry, confident and sexy. However, I honestly felt like Viva Glam Rihanna was a little bit underwhelming. In the description on MAC's website says it's a "Frosty Blue-Red" but on the lips, it looks more orange based. The lip color itself has gold specks underneath in the undertone, and that might be why it has a little bit more of that golden sheen you can see through it. The thing that really makes me a little sad though was the fact that I was expecting a little more something daring that Rihanna was going to pick as her lip color for the Viva Glam family. Something similar to her limited edition lipstick from the year before called Heaux, which was a deep plum purple, much similar to MAC's Rebel. I only got around 3 hours of wear before I had to re-apply, so I definitely recommend putting on a little bit of lip primer before applying. The lovely thing that I like about this lipstick was that it left a nice light berry stain after it wore out, and it looks almost like a "your lips but better" look.

Dupes: For some odd reason, I feel as though Viva Glam Rihanna is like if MAC's Ruby Woo and Russian Red had a baby. Ruby Woo is a little bit too orange, but Russian Red is more blue-based. If you take Ruby Woo as it is, and just take a teeny-tiny few swipes of Russian Red on a precision brush, add just of bit of gloss since Viva Glam Rihanna is a frost finish and both Ruby Woo and Russian Red are matte finishes, I think you'll get a good close one. Not quite similar, but definitely close.

Conclusion: Viva Glam Rihanna is a lipstick you should definitely try out if your into your red lipsticks. The one thing that stands out the most about this color was the fact that this is totally something Rihanna would wear on a daily basis and it's one of her natural looks. I was expecting Viva Glam Rihanna to be a little bit better, but the fact about the whole system of how Viva Glam by MAC works is one to respect. Every penny and proceeds goes straight to the AIDS foundation, so I will be happy towards the fact that your money will be going to a good cause when you purchase this. Viva Glam Rihanna is a nice color, and it's SAFE if you want something that's a little more natural looking. It's a lipstick that has a quality that stands out of the entire Viva Glam collection, but is it something that stands out of every lipstick MAC has made known to man? You'll definitely know the answer when you go and find this lipstick to try at a stand or store near you.

I hope you enjoyed my review for MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam Rihanna! And I actually will be purchasing the MAC's Viva Glam Rihanna Lipglass soon and will be doing a full product review and swatches post, so keep an eye out for that lovelies! And let me know if you end up trying on this lipstick! :)

Review Time! ♡ : Lime Crime's The Clueless Witch Collection "Black Velvet", "Salem" & "Wicked"

Hey lovelies! So if most of you are a big fan of Lime Crime, or have heard around on the block about Lime Crime themselves, they actually announced that they will be expanding their Velvetine collection with 3 more shades. The shades were released as a collection, more of as known "The Clueless Witch", with 3 colors in the shades deep-black, chocolate-brown, and burgundy-red. The Clueless Witch Collection was premiered on March 19th, 2014 shortly after 7:30 AM PST.

Now, if most of you don't know what their Velvetines are, I'll give you an amazing description. It's basically a revolution in a lipstick, being as it's first in liquid form. Then when applying, it turns into a dry, smudge proof, matte lipstick. Non-drying, doesn't stain, and it's totally kiss proof. It's what Lime Crime is mostly known for, and it is truly amazing. Here I will show you the new collection that Lime Crime has created, and it's really something different on the market. Completely edgy, gothic, and vampy colors, but it's totally something makeup lovers should invest in, because all the colors are completely universal. So without further adiu, I will no longer bring your eagerness into temptation, and may I present to you, Black Velvet, Salem, and Wicked!

Swatches above from Left to Right: Black Velvet, Salem, Wicked in indoor light on NC 15 skin.

Black Velvet available for $20.00 USD at www.limecrime.com

Black Velvet is completely different. Something I have never seen before in a black lipstick. And especially here since it's a liquid lipstick. This color will have you blown away, because it doesn't disappoint you. First swipe, this color has extreme payoff. I got about 6 hours of good wear, then I ate something and it looked like I needed to touch up. But for the most part, the stain completely stayed put. A color that is supposed to be worn under great pride, and making a daring statement. My honest opinion will be that Black Velvet is truly amazing.

Dupes: Melt Cosmetics Bane is definitely a great dupe for Black Velvet. Bane is a matte finish, just like Black Velvet itself. The difference between the two will probably be that Bane is a lot more creamier than Black Velvet. Another dupe I can recommend will be Lime Crime's Opaque lipstick Styletto, but it's a satin shine finish, not matte. If I think of any more in the future, I will definitely update them here on the website and let you know.

Salem

Salem available for $20.00 USD at www.limecrime.com

Salem is quite interesting, mostly of the fact that when Lime Crime announced what colors were actually going to be in the collection, a lot of people were extremely upset about this color, only because of the fact that most people thought this might be an extremely disturbing color to wear, giving the fact that it is a brown lipstick. But this color is actually going to be one of my guilty pleasure, obsession shades! I really don't think this color is that bad, it reminds me of a milk-chocolate shake smothered onto my lips, and suits the dark features on my face very well. It is suitable for all skin tones, with any type of undertone you have underneath, which makes it completely universal. I can see why Lime Crime chose this color over something else, because this color is a good representation of it being edgy and gothic. And that's what this collection is all about.

Dupes: Salem is very different, very individual of it's own taste. I can't come up with any dupes off the top of my head, so Salem is one to definitely try out. If I come up with any dupes in the future, I will update them here on the website and let you know.

Wicked

Wicked available for $20.00 USD at www.limecrime.com

Wicked is a shade I truly adore. If you don't have a taste for Black Velvet or Salem because it might be too much for you, then I recommend you try this one out. It's at that mid range when wearing it for making to be a dramatic statement, but still showing that side of sophistication. Applying it with one coat will make it look like a stain, but two coats on the lips will definitely vamp it up for you. This color by far, out of the three in the collection, even out of the whole Velvetine collection as well is my favorite. A color that is as the name says, is truly "Wicked".

Dupes: Lime Crimes own Opaque lipstick, Glamour 101 is quite similar, but it's with a glossy finish and it has more of a darker blue undertone. Melt Cosmetics 6six6 is similar too, but it has more of a brown undertone. I recommend you stock up on Wicked, because it is unique as it's own kind of a dark red matte lipstick. If I think of anymore dupes, I will update them here on my blog!

Conclusion: The Clueless Witch Collection is definitely something to look into, if your a lover for dark lips, want something of different change of pace, or your just a huge lover of Lime Crime's Velvetines! I think the collection is definitely something to invest in, because all of these colors are near nothing of disappointment, and you have an interesting choice of selection. The finishing of these liquid lipsticks are just to die for, and if your a sucker for matte finished lips, I highly recommend you try these out. I'm more than happy with The Clueless Witch Collection, and if you do try these Velvetines, make sure you wear them with great pride and have fun when you wear these!

Hey lovelies! Just wanted to give you a quick update, to let you know that I'm not gone or I left my blog. Wanted to let you know that in my previous blog, "TMI Tag!" I quickly mentioned at the end that I was expecting a package by something real special that I think most of us have been waiting for a long time. That is, most of us who are actually a big fan of Lime Crime have been waiting for these. I actually received them early today in the mail, and I cannot believe that I'm now a proud owner of new Lime Crime's Velvetines they have released!

Above here is the first promotion advertisement that Lime Crime released on their Instagram page. They originally had only 3 Velvetines and awhile ago, they had just announced that they will be expanding their collection, to be adding 3 MORE Velvetines. The collection is called "The Clueless Witch" and they explained them to be as "Gothatines", expanding for more dark, gothic, and vampy colors. Inspired by the television show "American Horror Story" and the classic original movie as can be, "Clueless". The collection you see here is quite interesting, and something to definitely check out on Lime Crime's website!
