Review Time! ♡ : Melt Cosmetics Lipsticks "Blow" and "Bane"

Hey lovelies! So a while ago, I was researching around on the internet for a lipstick company that was new, cool and most importantly, legit! I can't tell you how many companies that are out there in the world right now trying to scam young women and makeup artists their money, and wiping their pockets swipe clean without actually getting what they want. But I can tell you that right now, this blog post that your reading that you lovelies won't be disappointed. This company IS new, cool, and LEGIT! And I absolutely love the company and the lovely ladies that are in charge of it. I honestly would work for free for them, because that's how much I am in infatuated with them. I wouldn't be here writing this blog post if it wasn't for them. Let's get right into it!

So how I actually discovered this company was interesting. I found them out through Instagram, around the time where the release launch of their previous lip color, a blue lipstick with high pigmentation as can ever be, named "DGAF", and then I found their product being featured on a local You tuber named "Chrisspy" and their bright loudmouth neon orange lipstick named "Bang! Bang!" was on her October favorites video. When I saw that video, I fell instantly in head over heels with how bright and pigmented a orange lipstick can be. I was instantly sold.

The story behind these women on how they started is a wonderful one to hear over and over again. Began as two long time loving friends, knowing that both of them we're opposites, they had a connection with each other like no other friendship ever existed. Lora Arelleno (former MAC Cosmetics makeup artist) and Dana Bomar (former actress) could always bond with each other with their love and passion for makeup. Then one day, BING! A light bulb went off and they thought why not start a company they can both share with each other, while living their passion and sharing it with the world. Launching their site little over a year ago, with the start of 5 beautiful lipstick shades they've created, here begins Melt Cosmetics. And that for them is only just the beginning with their adventure. As Lora Arelleno is currently Rihanna's makeup artist, this journey for them is going to be one of the happiest ones they both will share with each other for a very long time. And they want us to join along with them.

I was lucky to make a purchase around the same time they were launching two BRAND NEW lipsticks and they were making notice around their social media websites. Here above is them in a winter themed photo shoot and they're both wearing their new shades. Lora (left) is wearing the shade "Blow" and Dana (right) is wearing the shade "Bane". Pictures are from Melt Cosmetics Instagram page. Both very extremely guilty pleasure shades, these shades aren't to be worn under any embarrassment. These shades are a statement to wear, and wear them with confidence and pride!

Blow is a forest, emerald green, with a bright finish after applying, with a blue-ish undertone underneath. In person, it can represent a gothic/vampy look. The ladies made note on their website that this lipstick is much more creamier than any of their other matte shades, but honestly, it's not that much of a bother or a big difference. I can see why they would prefer this shade to have more of a luster finish. At first when you open the lipstick itself, I've noticed a lot of bubbles surrounding around it. Don't worry, it's just moisture bubbles, plus the lipstick might have gotten a little bit of heat when inside the package.

Dupes: This color is a little similar to Lime Crime's "Serpentina" but the problem with that is it's a seasonal fall color and they only release it once a year, and they only have a limited supply when they do. Unless you get lucky, or you find a distributor with a few leftovers, Blow is definitely the happiest permanent alternative between the two. Plus Serpentina is a dark vampy emerald green with gold specks in the shade, like reminiscence similar to the back of a snake, and Blow is a forest green and has a lot more of a blue/teal undertone, similar to an ocean in my opinion. Plus, Blow is $19.00 with no tax and Serpentina is $20.00 with tax. Blow is definitely a color to stock up on.

Bane

Bane is literally the BLACKEST BLACK you'll ever grace yourself upon, with a shine over top. A true, very pigmented matte black. Very creamy, and it really doesn't feel like a matte finish on your lips, so it won't feel like it's drying. Got around a good 7 hours of wear, which is surprising because some black lipsticks won't carry that quality with it. Just apply a little concealer with a precision brush and clean any over lined areas you messed up on.

Dupes: Lime Crime's "Styletto" is similar to Bane, but the issue with that is Styletto has a glossy finish when applying it, verses with Bane has a matte finish. Melt swears to their own secrecy that their shades must all have a matte finish and that's what makes them special and unique with their lipsticks. If you don't like a matte finish, then definitely try Styletto as another alternative. But Bane is special like no other matte black lipstick and worth stocking up in your collection.

Conclusion: I can honestly say that I love these shades. I think these ladies deserve a round of applause for the creativity they've both put into the whole release launch, because it's absolutely amazing, and they deserve it. For $19.00 a tube, 4.5g/ 0.16 oz of product, you get a lot of product. And when I mean a lot, I mean A LOT! These shades all come in a matte finish, so it will look more cleaner looking on your lips. And lastly, they will hold you over almost around 7 hours of wear, which is the most amazing part of all. All the shades are gorgeous, vivid, and they are cruelty free, vegan, paraben free, and gluten free. And if any of you are kind of afraid on stepping out of your comfort zone, not so sure if you can pull these colors off, or probably not even allowed to wear them, don't you worry about that. These ladies created neutral to even more wearable colors for you to try out. So in the end, every one of you will find your happy medium. Will be reviewing more of their shades for you all in the future! Go check them out!
